SnapHappy Foodie goes to Saybrook Point Inn in Old Saybrook, CT

To celebrate my husband’s birthday recently, I surprised him with a stay at Saybrook Point Inn. It was not our first time to visit. The first time we went there, we were invited to stay overnight at their luxurious Tall Tales Guesthouse, which I blogged about here. We enjoyed that stay so much that we talked about going back while we were still there. We wanted to book a room at the original Main Inn for the next visit. Since it was hubby’s birthday, it was a good time to revisit that plan.

After comparing their different packages and knowing he wouldn’t want to leave our little dog behind, I booked their Doggie on the Go package that includes:

  • Overnight accommodations
  • Swag bag for your pup upon arrival
  • Complimentary bottle of house wine
  • Pet fee
  • $20 per person toward breakfast in Fresh Salt
  • Dog bed upon request

We stayed at their elegant Junior Luxury Suite. If this is how a “junior” luxury suite looks like, then my curiosity is incredibly piqued on how exquisite their full one bedroom suite looks like!

I admit, these pictures do not give justice to the gorgeous room. I didn’t bring my proper camera. My bad!

That’s us on our bed while our little guy is on his bed, which was provided by the hotel.

Here is our little guy with his swag bag. It had a water bottle, bottled water, food dish, a photo frame plus a leash.

Check out their fancy dog bed! I tried to carry it myself, but it’s pretty heavy.

Who doesn’t love a well-appointed bathroom anyway?

You know how sometimes, some little detail catches your attention? Check out those square mirror tiles!

I’ve been looking for ways to spruce up our bathroom mirrors at home (we have those big, boring frameless mirrors), and sticking mirror tiles on the borders seems like a pretty improvement. But I ramble. . .

Here’s my attempt at a mirror shot.

This is the complimentary house wine – a 2015 Canyon Road Chardonnay.

After dinner, I called the front desk to get this fire started while we enjoyed some wine.

So did we have a great time during this stay? You betcha! We had a charming room with a fantastic view. Had we woken up early, we would’ve enjoyed a lovely sunrise view. The amenities alone are exceptional. If you’re looking for some delightful eats, there’s Fresh Salt at the Inn. If you’re looking for some relaxing time, there’s the on-site spa Sanno. If you’re looking for some physical activity, they have the Health Club. They have an on-site marina with an outdoor Marina Bar, plus mini-golf nearby.

Parking? There are more than enough spots. Wi-Fi? That’s complimentary. Customer service? Excellent (special shout-out to Scott and Lito). Pet-friendly? Oh my goodness, yes, yes, YES! Our dog was such a star during our visit. They kept greeting him by his name and patting him. Which, as a furbaby mama, is a pleasure to behold. Trust me, we’ve stayed at some places where pets are treated as if they’re filthy little buggers, then they dumped us in smoking rooms. Ugh! They don’t realize that we trust our dog’s judgment when it comes to rooms. Dogs have a better and keener sense of smell than us, so he knows when a place is icky. Anyway. . .

I consider this visit second time lucky. Overall, a superb experience. Staying at Saybrook Point Inn is such a pleasant retreat from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life. It’s affordable elegance at its finest.
