Soup’s On! 8 Spots for Hearty Noodle Soups in the NY Tri-State Area

It has been a very cold winter for us. It’s the perfect time to stay indoors, keep warm through cold winter nights at home, wear comfy warm flannel pajamas, huddle on the couch with cozy fleece throw blankets, and drink a nice mug of hot chocolate. When you head outside, you literally feel Jack Frost nipping at your nose like in the song! But sometimes cabin fever kicks in and I just want to go out for a nice bowl of hot soup.

Here are different places in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey where you can get a hearty bowl of Asian noodle soup. It’s the result of our conscientious long drives in search of good noodle soup outside New York City. Soup’s on!

1. Edo II
32 Padanaram Road Danbury, CT 06811

Edo II is our go-to place for noodle soup in Danbury. In fact, it’s the only Korean restaurant in the Greater Danbury area. Yukgaejang and Mandooguk are the ol’ reliables. They also have Dwenjang (a Korean miso soup with tofu, seafood mix and vegetables) and Soon Tofu (a silk tofu soup with mixed seafood and vegetables).

2. Mecha Noodle Bar

We discovered Mecha in Fairfield, CT back in 2014. Fast forward to 2018, Mecha Noodle Bar has three branches now – in Fairfield, South Norwalk and New Haven. They offer a tasty selection of both pho and ramen, among other things.

3. Le’s Kitchen
18 Mill Plain Road Danbury, CT 06811

Le’s Kitchen is fairly easy to miss, tucked away in a corner from Rumors European Café. They took over the spot where Mima’s Meatballs & More used to be. Their pho selection comes in three sizes (regular, large and x-large).

4. Menya Sandaime
1638 Parker Avenue Fort Lee, NJ 07024

Menya Sandaime is an excellent ramen joint with a limited menu. What they offer, they offer excellently. The handmade noodles and broth were so rich and flavorful together, but the toppings amped it up. Just cross George Washington Bridge and you’re there.

5. Kishuya Ramen Noodle Bar

Kishuya is really a great discovery in Hartsdale, NY with their heavenly bowls of perfectly portioned and seasoned hot ramen.

6. Roc-N-Ramen
19 Anderson Street New Rochelle, NY 10801

Roc-N-Ramen was a great find in New Rochelle with its friendly staff, casual vibe, limited menu and modest prices. As you savor your hearty bowls of ramen, this is good winter eats plain and simple.

7. RameNesque

RameNesque is a good place to indulge a ramen craving, especially because they offer such a good selection. What’s more, the place has such a lovely ambiance.

8. Mokomiya
51 Court Street White Plains, NY 10601

This is the other ramen place we enjoyed in Westchester County (the other one is Roc-N-Ramen). When we went there, there were Japanese people eating there too, which we see as a good sign. Hubby wants to go back for their Shio Ramen and Miso Ramen. Not a bad idea.
