Eating Out: Hokkaido Ramen Santouka | TriNoMa, Quezon City, Philippines

It was my first time to go to Hokkaido Ramen Santouka. They have branches in the U.S. and Canada, apart from those in Japan (of course), Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and the Philippines. But the branches close to where we live (and when I say “close”, I mean we’d actually drive more than an hour) are in New Jersey and Massachusetts. Thank goodness for their Philippine branch!

During a recent visit, our tiny group ended up trying Kurobuta Gyoza, Kara-Miso and Shoyu Ramen and their Char Siu Gohan.

Here’s their fried and crispy Kurobuta Gyoza. It’s a perfect appetizer to start the meal.

I ordered Tossed Green Salad to add some vegetables, an attempt at a semblance of healthy eating.

We downed our food with Mango Shake, Iced Tea and Iced Green Tea. Can you guess which drink was mine?

This Kara-Miso Ramen can be ordered with a side of corn kernels. . .

. . . that will be used as topping on the soup.

I’m Ms. Shoyu Ramen, so this bowl was mine to enjoy.

I wanted to try their rice bowl, but I hesitated at first. It seemed like too much food already. Happily, this one came in a small bowl that wasn’t the least bit overwhelming.

Verdict: The Kara-Miso and Shoyu ramen were both very flavorful and pretty robust. It just begs to be eaten and savored. I’m already planning to try their Char Siu Ramen next. The salad and the rice bowl were fairly uneventful – nothing earth-shattering. The Kurobuta Gyoza was crispy on the outside and juicy on the side. Good job.

We were walk-in customers, so we didn’t make any reservations. Service-wise, our food server was friendly and helpful, even checking up on us every so often. The restaurant is located on the fourth floor of Trinoma Mall, away from the madding crowd. You can easily park in the Mindanao Carpark level 6 and you’ll end up in the same level as Hokkaido Ramen Santouka. It’s close to Red Box, if you know where that is.

Have you been to Hokkaido Ramen Santouka? I’d love to know how it went!
