Eating Out: Chateau Hestia Garden Restaurant | Silang, Cavite, Philippines

Last month, my family and I went to Chateau Hestia Garden Restaurant in Silang, Cavite to celebrate my parents’ wedding anniversary. My mom and my sister have been there before, so the place wasn’t a surprise to them anymore. To us, it was a lovely discovery.

This sitting area greeted us upon entering the restaurant. That coffee table is similar to the coffee table in my parents’ family room!

Can you see my mom and my husband? That’s where we sat for our lunch. Too bad they were both busily looking at their phones. They had no clue that I took this picture!

This is the Deli Shop,  where they sold a selection of European cheese, sausages, cold cuts, sauces, dips, dressings, jams, freshly baked breads and most importantly, wines!

The lactose-intolerant in me was crying inside while looking at these items. So near yet so far!

Since I shouldn’t partake of cheese, I focused on this wall of wine instead. I left Chateau Hestia with a bottle of their homemade Limoncello.

I didn’t get to cross this bridge, so I’m not quite sure what lies beyond it.

Now on to our table. They gave us this to start with.

I ordered from their July Set Menu that consisted of Yellow Lentil Soup, Grape and Prosciutto Salad, a choice of Chicken Pillard or Fillet of Cod in Hollandaise Sauce (I chose Chicken Pillard), then Warm Pineapple Crepe ala Suzette for dessert.

This nice and fresh Grape and Prosciutto Salad was definitely a feel-good food to eat on a summer day.

Here’s the Chicken Pillard, which I thought was spelled wrong. I know chicken paillard, but the menu and the server said pillard. It does look like paillard to me, but I was too hungry to keep asking. This was going to end up in my tummy anyway.

This Warm Pineapple Crepe ala Suzette was smaller than I expected, but given I already had soup, salad and chicken, it was perfectly portioned already.

My mom had this Baked Salmon and Sauteed Shrimps. The salmon fillet had a lemon-pepper crust and placed on top of a bed of potato gnocchi, shrimps and fresh vegetables.

My husband had this Kummelbraten, a Viennese oven-roasted pork belly with caraway seeds and garlic, served with servietten knodel (a savory German dumpling, not at all similar to the Chinese dumplings) and sauerkraut.

My sister wanted this Fried Pumpkin Chicken. According to the menu, it is “Pumpkin butter-filled chicken, fried to golden brown, served with mushroom sauce and scallop potatoes”. Tasty!

Verdict: I seem to have a soft spot for restaurants that have lovely gardens. Even more so when it’s tucked away in some far-off place where getting to it takes time and effort. Chateau Hestia is that sort of restaurant with its charming and peaceful countryside location, its fresh and vibrant garden space, the amiable customer service and the palate-satisfying dishes definitely leave nothing to be desired. It’s definitely worth going back to sometime in the future.
